Objects Conservation Department

September 2009 to December 2009

Supervisor: Roger Griffith

During my internship, I was able to take part in several conservation projects, including conserving objects in the permanent collection, as well as objects for the Tim Burton Retrospective and the Bauhaus 1919–1933: Workshops for Modernity exhibitions. I also assisted with the installation of objects in the Gabriel Orozco exhibition.

I gained various skills, including:

· Textile conservation techniques: cleaning, adhesive removal, backing, stitching, and inpainting textiles

· Object conservation techniques: cleaning, adhesive removal, refabrication of missing elements, and inpainting

· Properly handling, storing, packing, and unpacking objects of art

· Taking, developing, and archivally storing X-Rays

· Cleaning and maintenance of objects on display
