During my internship, I was able to conserve a variety of archaeological materials, including metal, stone, ceramic, glass, and charcoal. The bulk of materials that I worked with were metals, and my research project involved lead scrolls. I also took part in conservation education and outreach.

I gained various skills, including:

·Archaeological metal conservation techniques: cleaning, removing corrosion product, consolidation, joining fragments, backing, and creating mounts

·Archaeological ceramic conservation techniques: cleaning, consolidation, and joining fragments

·Cleaning and unrolling lead scrolls research project

·Taking seal impressions

·Lifting of delicate objects from site

·Giving daily updates at site meetings, weekly PowerPoint presentations,

updating the conservation blog, and co-hosting a conservation open house
